We have a bit more information about the probable status of prints in New Zealand than we do about most overseas locations thanks to the information on this website...

We should keep the following information in mind if we publicize missing episodes in New Zealand in the future:
If you read through it carefully (and hopefully I have interpreted it correctly), there are 35 episodes that were aired but their fate was not officially logged. Of course, in all probability, they were destroyed or sent elsewhere, but that's not known for sure....
These are...
Marco Polo
Five Hundred Eyes
The Wall of Lies
Rider from Shang-Tu
Mighty Kublai Khan
Assassin at Peking (The find of the reused film can in Wellington in 1990 suggests that this episode was destroyed, but we don't know for sure)
(first two episodes sent to Iran)
The Crusade
The Knight of Jaffa
The War-Lords
(of course, The Lion was recovered in New Zealand)
The Underwater Menace
Part 1
Part 2
Part 4
The Moonbase
Part 1
Part 3 (Again, reused film can found in Wellington in 1990)
The Macra Terror
Part 1
Part 2
Part 3
Part 4
The Abominable Snowmen
Part 1
Part 3
Part 4
Part 5
Part 6
The Enemy of the World
Part 1
Part 2
Part 4
Part 5
Part 6
The Web of Fear
Part 2
Part 3
Part 4
Part 5
Part 6
The Wheel in Space
Part 1
Part 2
Part 4
Part 5
There were 8 others that were rejected for airing, but their fate is not known. These seem a bit less probable to me to be around, since they would probably have been returned to the BBC right away.
The Ice Warriors
Part 2
Part 3
Fury from the Deep
Part 1
Part 2
Part 3
Part 4
Part 5
Part 6
However, that's 43 episodes total in the category of fate unknown.
12 more episodes were logged as destroyed, yet 'The Lion' was also supposedly destroyed and it survived...
The Reign of Terror
The Tyrant of France
A Bargain of Necessity
DESTROYED -- 18 JUNE 1971
The Highlanders
Part 1
Part 2
Part 3
Part 4
DESTROYED – After April 1970
The Evil of the Daleks
Part 1
Part 3
Part 4
Part 5
Part 6
Part 7
DESTROYED – After August 1973
I consider the 55 episodes described above (fate unknown / supposedly destroyed) at least possible to search for in New Zealand.
However, the 35 episodes listed below were bicycled on to other countries or returned to the BBC. It seems pretty likely that they were indeed sent away. It would be completely unexpected if they turned up in New Zealand today. In short, we could almost write these off for a search in New Zealand...
Marco Polo
The Roof of the World, The Singing Sands to IRAN
Galaxy 4
(episodes missing: Four Hundred Dawns, Trap of Steel, Airlock, The Exploding Planet)
SENT TO SINGAPORE – 20 SEPT 1972
The Myth Makers
(episodes missing: Temple of Secrets, Small Prophet Quick Return, Death of a Spy, Horse of Destruction)
SENT TO SINGAPORE – 20 SEPT 1972
The Massacre
(episodes missing: War of God, The Sea Beggar, Priest of Death, Bell of Doom)
SENT TO SINGAPORE – 20 SEPT 1972
The Celestial Toymaker
(episodes missing: The Celestial Toyroom, The Hall of Dolls, The Dancing Floor)
SENT TO SINGAPORE – 20 SEPT 1972
The Savages
(episodes missing: Part 1, Part 2, Part 3, Part 4)
SENT TO SINGAPORE – 10 JAN 1972
The Smugglers
(episodes missing: Part 1, Part 2, Part 3, Part 4)
SENT TO SINGAPORE – 10 JAN 1972
The Tenth Planet
(episodes missing: Part 4)
SENT TO SINGAPORE – 10 JAN 1972
The Power of the Daleks
(episodes missing: Part 1, Part, 2, Part 3, Part 4)
SENT TO SINGAPORE – JAN 1972
The Faceless Ones
(episodes missing: Part 2, Part 4, Part 5, Part 6, with only a damaged Part 3 in archives)
RETURNED TO BBC – July 1970
In summary, there are 55 episodes which are still reasonable to ask about in New Zealand. I suppose the shipment logs could be wrong for the other 35, but it would seem that Singapore or Iran or the BBC would have checked back about them. We could totally confirm the ones sent to Singapore if there were records showing that they were broadcast on Singapore TV. Then we could *really* stop asking about them in New Zealand.
