As has been widely discussed on a number of Doctor Who websites, there was no announcment at the 'Raiders of the Lost Archive' event that 'Web of Fear' has been found.

Posted in the News section for October 30, 2007 at DWO. The Web of Fear rumor is described below as a probable "false alarm" ...

DWO Mailbag - October 2007 News Dated: 30/10/2007 As October draws to a close, it's time to delve through the DWO Mailbag. Damian Brooks; UK asks: Hello! What happened about The Web of Fear then which was reported on the website? Is it still believed that it might have been found? Surely worthy of another news story or an update seeing as it was so sensationally reported a few weeks back. Damian. Hi Damian - The Web of Fear rumour is sadly looking like a false alarm. DWO received information from 3 reliable sources, but unfortunately it appears to have reached a dead end. DWO do not usually report these kind of news items, owing to the sensitivity behind lost stories, but we honestly believed this story had some truth to it. I guess if there is any truth, we may not find out for some time to come. As a news and information site we received a huge amount of support from fans thanking us for reporting the news. We also received some negative feedback stating that we should never have run the story in the first place. DWO is a Doctor Who news and information site, and to withhold news defeats the point of what we do. We will treat such stories in the future a bit differently though, and we intend to take all comments (both positive and negative) on board. On a more positive note, DWO are planning to launch a Missing episode campaign, of which full details can be found on the site in weeks to come.

Sadly the DWO missing episode campaign has not, for whatever reason, come to fruition. Following The Web of Fear story, Sebastian Brooks posted the following on the 6th Sept 2007; "...we will launch a huge campaign (bigger than anything that has ever gone before) to find the missing episodes.
We will make flyers, contact studios, and generally get as many people involved in this worldwide hunt as possible. Im not rubbishing previous attempts, dont get me wrong, but this will be massive.
If you feel that you want or can help us in any way with this campaign, please contact us at: missingepisodes@drwho-online.co.uk..."I have enquired about this campaign 2 or 3 threes now. Both in private message and publicly on the forum. On 16th Feb this year I posted the following on the Web Of Fear found thread on the DWO forum; "...Is the DWO missing episode campaign still underway?
Could someone point me towards some publicity the campaign has achieved since last September?..."5 minutes after I made that post Sebastian responded; "We have registered the domain www.missingepisodes.co.uk and are currently designing the website and making contacts in getting it all together.
Your intimates that we have done nothing, which couldn't be further from the truth. "There is still no content on that link; I enquired again on the 11th July 2008. No response as yet. This evening I started a new thread on the DWO forum in the missing episodes section. Sadly it seems that DWO's missing episode campaign has gone missing and will probably never see the light of day. It really is a pity that so little is done to raise publicity on this matter. As of today, it would seem that this forum has done more to bring the matter to peoples attention than any other group in fandom. While we haven't had any results as yet I am remaining positive. It could take years for the information to get to the right person. Every piece of publicity raised increases our chances of seeing something recovered - (if not Dr Who, then perhaps something else). Brian.
